the “spark plugs” of your body
Let’s talk MINERALS.
So maybe the only thing you know about minerals is that they are in a multivitamin or maybe you conveniently forgot all about them because science isn’t your thing. And that’s okay. That’s why I’m going to talk about them! Lately, I’ve been diving into all things minerals and I’ve learned they are incredibly powerful nutrients that we just don’t get enough of.
Minerals are considered essential for maintaining the healthy function of your body. In fact, minerals are needed in some way for every process or function in the body like how you respond to stress, hormone production, bone formation, nervous system function, blood sugar regulation, gut health, and so much more! Since they are essential, we need to get them from our diet because our bodies can’t make them on their own.
Think of minerals as the spark plugs of your body. They are what make your cells run and are the foundation on which the body works. The body requires adequate levels of minerals in proper balance in order to take the food we eat and make energy from it to fuel our metabolism – minerals like calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium and copper. They are necessary for important reactions in the body and allow essential processes like hormone production, digestion, and detoxification to occur. Without healthy and balanced mineral levels, it’s difficult to ensure things like digestion and hormone production are even functioning properly.
A few signs that your minerals need support: low energy, acne and other skin issues, hair loss, period problems, difficulty sleeping, fertility struggles, low body temp, reduced ability to handle stress, PCOS/endo/thyroid issues, bloating and gut issues, low pulse, and dental health issues.
Minerals are essential for optimal health. This is why nutrient-dense foods are SO important for healthy hormones, a happy gut, clear skin, all the energy, and reducing stress within the body. I believe creating a solid foundation with balanced minerals is key to a healthy life.
